"Kicks for Kids" KICK-A-THON and Open House
On Monday June 7 at 7:30pm, the CW Taekwondo club will be hosting the "Kicks for Kids" Kick-A-Thon, a fundraising event to support St. Jude Children's Hospital, the CW club, and our tBos competition team.
Donate Here
CW would like to invite the community to sponsor us as we throw a thousand kicks for a good cause. We also welcome you to attend an Open House event immediately following the Kick-a-Thon to learn the basics of Taekwondo. CW looks forward to the opportunity to share our passion for the sport and the art of Taekwondo.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a leading pediatric treatment and research facility focused on children's catastrophic diseases. St. Jude is the only pediatric research center in the United States where families never pay for transportation, lodging, and meals. Most importantly, families are never charged for treatments not covered by insurance and families without insurance are never asked to pay. As a result, St. Jude Children's hospital relies heavily on charitable contributions.
The tBos competition team trains year-round to compete on the regional, national and international stage. Its members have excelled at the highest levels and have served on multiple US national teams. Kick-a-thon proceeds will help tBOS and CW to invest in new electronic systems now required to prepare for competition.
Participants in the Kick-a-Thon will be challenged to each complete 1,000 kicks in the spirit of teamwork and athleticism. Club members will also demonstrate several board breaks for the audience. Therefore, we ask you to push us by contributing by the kick! Sponsors may also choose to have a team member perform a board break for ten dollars. We invite you to come and cheer us on at this exciting event!
Donations can be made in person or online through our storefront. Thank you.

York, AAU National Qualifiers
04/06/10 Congratulations to several members of competition team t.Bos on a very successful last weekend in March!
Senior Instructor Ana Kazimirova, Youth instructor Jayson Grant and his brother Elijah went to compete at the York, PA National qualifier. Fabio Takahashi was there to coach and Jason Grant, Jayson and Elijah's father, logged a lot of miles at the wheel supporting the team.
Ana K had a breakthrough weekend, sparring up to the lightweight division. She won her first match to make it to the semis where she won over a former US collegiate national team member. She was down and came from behind to take the lead with a double kick and a crescent kick, keeping the lead with some good padachagis. She got a silver on the day (meeting up with much taller US national junior team member in the finals). Congrats Ana!
Jayson Grant plowed through the competition at welter, earning a gold, hitting a reverse turning kick to the head in each of his matches.
Elijah Grant also sparred well, winning two matches, taking a silver and earning a berth along with the others at Nationals this July in Orlando, FL.
Also, Ana (in a marathon weekend) sparred at the AAU national qualifier in Maryland. She had two matches and won both, including a nice fast kick to the head that took her opponent to the ground, earning a gold medal and qualifying for the AAU nationals in Florida this July.

U.S. Open Forms
03/19/10 The field was very competitive in poomsae at the U.S. Open this year, with strong teams from Korea, Mexico, Columbia, Ireland, France, and many others in attendance! Lots of national teams were there.
Rene Chen took a BRONZE medal in the big and very competitive women's 19-30 poomsae division, finishing ahead of a very impressive competitor from Korea! Way to go with her first international medal!
Bobby Ren finished something like 7th overall in a very large men's 19-30 division - he was 5th place after the preliminaries, advanced to the semifinals and then the finals!
Alicia Zhou finished in the top half of the women in women's 19-30, missing the cut to the next round by just a spot. Together, Alicia and Bobby also finished 6th in pairs poomsae in a tough field!
Christina Park also made it to the semifinals and finals of the women's division. She also took a BRONZE in pairs poomsae, another very competitive division!
Mike Harb advanced to the semis in the 31-40 division but his run ended there.
Rene, Christina and Lisa Zhou took SILVER in women's team poomsae, getting some high scores but finishing behind the Mexico national team.
U.S. Open Sparring
03/19/10 Folks from the t.Bos competition crew and our friends from West Side Taekwondo did great in a very, very deep field of world-class competitors (including many world medalists and Olympians) in sparring at the U.S Open this year. Chinedum Osuji, Fabio Takahashi and Dan Chuang were there as coaches.
Brett Schuschereba made it to the quarterfinals, where he met the eventual gold medalist and World University Champion Roman Kuznetskov from Russia. It was a thrilling match with Brett scoring 10 points in the 3rd round, and Russia barely won, 18-13.
After winning gold in Ultra Division sparring the previous day, Mike Harb won his first match against a talented Mexico national team member (despite several reversed decisions) after scoring first in overtime in one of the most memorable matches of the day. He sparred competitively against a taller competitor from Colombia in his next match despite an injured thigh from the first match, but did not advance.
Jayson Grant met a Mexico national team member in the first round. Although he made a lot of contact, the points weren't going up on the electronic hogu and he wasn't able to get past a strong competitor.
Nathan Hanagami met up with national bronze medalist Cory King in the first round. Nathan was leading 5-1 after the first round, but his opponent got in a couple of head shots and was able to pull ahead.
Ana Kazimirova met up with a very physical competitor from Puerto Rico. It was very close and low-scoring. Ana never gave up but was unable get past her opponent's guard.
Richard-Duane Chambers went neck and neck against a tough international competitor from Ecuador despite an injury, losing by the slimmest of margins 9-8.
Christine Chin was leading for most of her first match against Colombia, but penalties and a questionable head shot from her opponent tied the score 4-4 to send it overtime, which the judges gave to her less aggressive opponent on decision. Christine made a great international debut in her first black belt level tournament!
Lenn Hypolite completely dominated his first two matches to reach the third round where he met a very tough Mexico national team member. He lost 2-1, but there was some confusion on the scoreboard in the 3rd round and it might have been a different story without it!
Dorian Alexander dominated his first match and met a strong Mexico national team member in his second. He scored well from the inside, tying the score 8-8 late in the 3rd round. Dorian hit first in the closing seconds of the match but unfortunately the hogu didn't register the point, giving the match to his opponent 9-8 on his counter.
